Search the stacks
Give the Annex a melody and it will tell you where that melody has always been shelved. Short monophonic lines (up to 48 notes) are stored literally: the address encodes the notes, so opening it plays your melody back exactly. Longer or polyphonic material is reduced to its top voice first.
Rhythms are quantised to the nearest of eight durations (𝅘𝅥𝅯 through 𝅝) before shelving, so what you find is your melody as the Library records it — pitch‑exact, rhythm‑rounded.
